Adalgisa is a strange role as she does not have a solo aria, disappears 30 minutes before the opera ends, and sing three duets and a trio; moreover, she’s shown as weak and humble in contrast with the strength and determination of Norma and the passion of Pollione. As such, it’s not often the most interesting of roles. And yet, Stroppa's engagement was so complete and intense that she was arguably the audience favorite by the end of the night...

... Il ruolo di Adalgisa è stato cantato dal mezzosoprano italiano Annalisa Stroppa. Il suo timbro è scuro, con una precisa proiezione della voce. Stroppa non solo ha cantato con stile, profondità e tecnica raffinata, ma si è trasformata in una ragazza ingenua, dubbiosa, piena di emozione e profondità. Il suo duetto con Pollione, "Respirar son vista", è stato cantato con rimpianto, passione e abbandono. Adalgisa è un ruolo strano in quanto non ha un'aria da solista, scompare 30 minuti prima della fine dell'opera e canta tre duetti e un terzetto; inoltre si mostra debole e umile in contrasto con la forza e la determinazione di Norma e la passione di Pollione. In quanto tale, non è spesso il ruolo più interessante. Eppure, il coinvolgimento della Stroppa è stato così totale e intenso da farla risultare la preferita del pubblico al termine della serata...
